Your Pet's Strangest Activity

What is your pet's (or pets') strangest behavior?

We found a pitiful cat. We don't know her history but she has a rather irritating need to nurse. Obviously none of us can nurse her, but she does the kneading action with her paws and works her mouth on my skin. She seems to recognize that nursing is a mother thing because she doesn't do it to anyone in the house but me. (I know, how did I get so lucky?)

Does anyone else's pet(s) have an odd habit?

I don't have any pets, but my youngest child used to go around smelling peoples' heads. We used to do that to her when she was a baby. Because babies' heads smell so good. :-) I think she was around five or six by the time she stopped doing that, but she is still madly in love with babies and small children.

I posted some pics of my Ben (who sleeps with his legs in the air) and my Holly (who does a St. Vitus dance) here

Great post. Hope your cats claws dont hurt you too much with the kneading.

Lynn, that is too funny. I can just imagine a child going around trying to smell peoples' heads. (And isn't nature brilliant how it instills characteristics like that--good smell, wide eyes, etc--so that vulnerable newborns and babies are irresistable to us and we'll nurture them?)

Oh Kahless, that picture of Ben sleeping is hilarious! I've never seen a dog reaching out like that while on its back. lol

I'm going to have to look up St. Vitus to understand the reference, but the behavior sounds funny.

i've a dog and i can confirm that i've also seen him in that very same position which kahless linked to. sometimes he does a kind of pawing action on his back while he's asleep too - ah what doggie dreams he must be having

My dog was never a barker - she just whined. When we had our daughter, she started barking ferociously at anyone who came to the door. She would also start tearing apart the house whenever she cried - we finally figured out that she thought we were hurting the baby and was trying to distract us. With this little one, she comes sniffing around whenever I nurse - when baby is done and all milk-mouthed she tries to lick him.

I don't have pets anymore but my old fave cat used to try to get into my slippers. He'd stick his head in followed by his his big fat double paws and dig his way further & further in until he was wedged in up to his chest!
Same cat was deaf and he would ride the vaccum cleaner around the house while I cleaned. I loved that cat.
